About Me

I love glass. I the love the play of light as it passes through and reflects off of glass, the amazing variety of colors and textures, and the moods glass can project. Vibrant, rich colors are essential.

Years ago I made stained glass windows and sun catchers, but I wanted more dimension. Then I found mosaics and realized I could keep the art two dimensional when I wanted, but I could also create deep relief, mosaic sculptures, or anything in between. There are endless possibilities with mosaics.

Creating a mosaic can be a long process. I have to design it, sometimes engineer it, but then I also have to find just the right pieces to make it all come together the way I envision it. There are other times when a found object, a piece of glass, or a certain shape can inspire me and lead me down a totally unexpected path. Then piece by piece I put it all together until it's just right. My art is just as much about the process as the product. My inner soul smiles as I lose myself in my creations.

A few years ago, I started to incorporate fused glass pieces into my mosaics. One thing led to another, mostly through my love of jewelry, and now I create fused glass jewelry, colorful garden art, and even plates.

I am a high school Spanish teacher and split my time between my passions: teaching and creating glass art.

I belong to the Society of American Mosaic Artists, Contermporary Mosaic Artists, Los Altos Art Club, and I am the founding member of Full Spectrum Mosaics: Artists of Silicon Valley.
